About us
The Family Voice story
Family Voice Sheffield CIC is a community built by and for women.
We started small in 2016, when three women came together with a simple idea: to create a space where women can learn in a safe, respected, and valued environment. From those early classes, Family Voice has grown into a vibrant community where hundreds of women now connect, learn, and lead.
At the heart of Family Voice are five values chosen by women themselves: friendliness, respect, empathy, nurture and trust. These behaviours are embedded and real, giving us our reputation for integrity and care.
Women don’t just attend Family Voice — they are Family Voice! They volunteer to support others, sit on the Family Voice Council, and influence decisions that shape the future of our work. Some have gone from first stepping nervously into an English class to working here. And many have gone on to work in Ammi’s Kitchen.
Family Voice is about turning lived experience into strength. Women bring their skills, culture and resilience with them. Together, we build confidence and opportunities. Along the way, we create a stronger, fairer, more connected local community.

Our mission
Our mission is to maintain a welcoming space where local women, with lived experience of migration, build confidence and friendships, learn new skills and lead change.
Our history
Family Voice began in 2016 when three local women came together to create a welcoming space for women with lived experience of migration, to learn, connect and support each other – with no idea that it would grow into a strong community where hundreds of women now build friendships, learn new skills and lead change in their lives and beyond.
